Mubadala Development Company and Cleveland Clinic announced the official ground breaking ceremony of Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi (CCAD) hospital.

Scheduled to welcome its first patients in early 2011, the world-class hospital will be a 360 bed (scalable to 490), multi-specialty facility located on Al Sowa Island, across from the Abu Dhabi Mall.

The hospital will be a unique and unparalleled extension of the Cleveland Clinic model, providing a spectrum of specialty services that are designed to cater to the healthcare needs of Abu Dhabi and the region.  One of the objectives of CCAD is to address the needs of patients currently traveling abroad for treatment.

CCAD will offer the most advanced tertiary / quaternary medical services in the region through a comprehensive range of specialties and subspecialties.

Local and international patients will be cared for in an environment combining excellent amenities and service standards with the highest quality patient care and superior clinical outcomes.  The hospital is being designed to take advantage of the latest technologies in surgery, imaging, telemedicine and electronic medical records.

Genesis Planning was selected to provide complete medical technology planning services for this landmark project.

Genesis has been awarded the contract to provide technology planning and procurement services for this project. This new facility will consist of 2 Linear Accelerators, 1 PET/CT Scanner, 1 CT Simulator, and a 12-bay Infusion Center with related support and exam areas. Future modalities include a MRI and General X-ray.

This facility will provide patients in the southeastern region of New Jersey with the latest therapies and cancer treatment services.

The Methodist Hospital System
Houston, Texas

The Methodist Hospital System announced plans Nov. 9 for a new 192-bed hospital and imaging center to serve residents in west Houston.

The new community hospital, which will be the fourth in the Methodist System, will feature 14 operating rooms, a breast center, radiation therapy, labor and delivery services, and other services. It will include several centers of excellence from the Texas Medical Center, including cancer, heart, and orthopedic services. An emergency department, with the capacity to treat more than 30,000 patients annually, and imaging capabilities, will also be a part of the hospital.
